About this app
Change hundreds of shared macros at once, see every change before it happens, and undo any of it later. Quillmend finds every macro the change touches, shows you each one before and after, writes only what you approve, and keeps a copy of every macro it changes so you can put it back.

Find and replace across every macro
- Search titles, reply text, subjects and tags for a word, a phrase, a link or a placeholder, and replace it in every macro that has it. Match case, whole words only, or a pattern with
$1groups. - Rich reply text stays intact. Quillmend edits the words only. Bold, links, images and layout are never touched, and you never see or edit HTML.
- Placeholder guard. If a change would alter or break a placeholder such as
{{ticket.requester.first_name}}or{{dc.refund_policy}}, the preview says so before you apply.
Fix macros that point at something gone
- Broken references, listed. Macros that set a deleted group, a suspended agent, an inactive field or form, or a dropdown option that no longer exists.
- Fix them in bulk with Change a value: every macro that sets the retired group now sets the new one, keeping all their other actions.
Tidy the whole library
- Move to a category (the
Billing::Refunds::part of the title) without retyping names. - Change availability to all agents or to chosen groups.
- Add or remove tags in the macros' tag actions, remove an action everywhere it appears, activate or deactivate in bulk.
- See usage. Each macro shows how often it was used in the last 30 days; filter to macros nobody used, deactivate them, and delete the inactive ones you no longer need.
Preview first, undo anything
- Nothing is written until you approve the preview. Every changed macro is listed with its old and new value side by side; untick any you want to leave out.
- Every change is saved in your Zendesk account before the macro is written: History lists each change with who made it and when, and Undo puts every macro back, or just one.
- Safe with other editors. Quillmend refuses to change a macro someone edited since your preview, and Undo will not overwrite a later edit unless you say so.
- Deleted macros come back. Undo recreates a macro Quillmend deleted (Zendesk gives it a new id).
Plans (billed monthly by Zendesk, per Zendesk account)
Every feature is on every plan. Plans differ only by how many shared macros your account has (active and inactive):
- Team: $99 a month for up to 25 shared macros.
- Professional: $199 a month for up to 250 shared macros.
- Enterprise: $349 a month for any number of shared macros.
14-day trial; Zendesk asks for a card at install and billing starts when the trial ends unless you uninstall. No free plan. If your library grows past your plan, browsing, previews and undo keep working and the app tells you which plan fits before you apply more changes.
Your data
Quillmend runs entirely in your browser inside Zendesk. There is no Great Work server, no account to create and no API token to paste. Every call is made as the signed-in admin, with their permissions, to your own Zendesk account. The undo copies are records of a "Quillmend change" object in your own Zendesk account. Quillmend reads macros and the names of groups, agents, ticket fields, forms and brands they refer to; it never reads tickets or customer records. It sends nothing to Great Work or anyone else (not even usage statistics), keeps nothing outside Zendesk, does no background work and uses no AI.

Install Quillmend from the Zendesk Marketplace and choose the plan that covers your number of shared macros (Team up to 25, Professional up to 250, Enterprise any number). The 14-day trial starts now; Zendesk asks for a card and starts billing when the trial ends unless you uninstall.
- Under Role restrictions, limit the app to admins (or the custom roles that manage shared macros). Agents without that permission can open it, but Zendesk refuses their changes.
- Optional setting: Keep undo copies for (days), default 365. History offers to clear copies older than this; nothing is removed until an admin clicks Clear.
- Click the Quillmend icon in the left navigation bar. Filter and select macros, choose a change, click Preview changes, review each macro, and click Apply. Undo is on the result screen and in History.
At install Quillmend creates one custom object, "Quillmend change", where it keeps a copy of each macro before and after every change it makes. This needs custom objects in your plan (any Zendesk Suite plan, or Support Enterprise). If you uninstall, Zendesk keeps the object and its records so a reinstall can still undo past changes; an admin can delete the object in Admin Center (Objects and rules > Custom objects) to remove them. Your macros stay exactly as they are.
